Hi!
I’m Dr. Kelly Fradin

pediatrician, a mom and a passionate advocate for children’s health and wellness.
Pediatrics is a challenge because caring for children doesn’t end with the medicine. Parents look to pediatricians to learn how to feed their child, get their child to sleep, help their child learn – all important things that aren’t really medical.
After reading many parenting books, raising my own kids and getting to know so many families, I have a lot of ideas about how to enhance children’s well-being.
I’m asked for advice on the subway to work, at the playground and in elevators. People ping me – a LOT – by text and on Instagram. Friends often ask me the same questions because we’re all looking for guidance about the same issues. Typically what my friends want isn’t really medical advice – it’s parenting guidance, reliable information and reassurance.
Precisely because there are so many potential sources of information on how to raise your children, what I think is most helpful is not the information, almost everything I share is publicly available, but the curation. Now more than ever, so many parents want help deciding what should our priorities be and who should we trust.
Combining the academic, science and research backed knowledge with the empathy and intimate understanding of what real parenting is really like, has really taken off. I have been so pleased with so many interesting opportunities. I’m now writing my second book – the book I’ve been dreaming of for more than ten years. I’ve done nearly a hundred speaking engagements in the last year for schools, public health oriented groups, and companies including Sony, Hearst, Danone and Stanford. I have developed my voice as well as my stack of resources to share so if you are looking for a speaker please contact me and I’d be delighted to customize something for your group. I’m also doing more corporate consulting and media advising, sharing my knowledge, experience and advice with companies hoping to help parents and families.
I will share my resume information below so you can know your sources. If you are looking for advice for your own family, follow me on social media or subscribe to my newsletter. If you are looking for a writer, speaker, consultant or expert advisor, please reach out.
Short answer
She is the Director of Pediatrics at the Atria Institute in NYC where she works with leading experts to bring innovations in preventive care to their members and underserved populations.
During her time working in public health in the South Bronx she launched her instagram account @ adviceigivemyfriends to provide calm, realistic, and evidence-based advice to families. Pursuing this mission she wrote Parenting in a Pandemic to help give parents the tools they needed to interpret the news and support their family during the peak of the pandemic. Her new book, Advanced Parenting will be published by Hachette in April 2023, seeks to support parents in navigating their children’s challenges.
Long answer
At Harvard College, she received an honors degree in psychology for her thesis on the physiologic response to stress across variable socioeconomic backgrounds. She graduated from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City and completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx. Subsequently, she joined the faculty where she cared for children with complex medical conditions inpatient and outpatient, conducted clinical research and educated medical students and residents.
As she balanced motherhood with medicine, she stepped back from that role to work in a public health capacity with NYC schools in the South Bronx and began sharing parenting and health information on social media. When coronavirus hit, Dr. Fradin published Parenting in a Pandemic: How to help your family through COVID-19 to help inform and empower parents. She kept been busy working as a writer, speaker and consultant but missed the robust relationships with families and time caring for children. She has resumed her clinical practice at the Atria Institute in NYC.
As the Director of Pediatrics, she leads a team of excellent clinicians in providing world class primary care. She additionally oversees philanthropic initiatives in concert with the Atria Collaborative led by David Saltzman and works to innovate in primary care with the support of the Atria Academy led by Dr. David Dodick. Her new book Advanced Parenting: Advice for Helping Kids Through Diagnoses, Differences, and Mental Health Challenges offers advice on how to help your child through a challenge from her perspective as a complex care pediatrician. This book is inspired by her work helping parents learn caregiving skills to navigate the health and educational systems necessary to help their families.
As a pediatrician and mother of two, I have so many opinions about the best products for kids and I love sharing my favorite books. I hope you find this helpful!

The ideas I have may not fit every child or every family. Parents should use their judgment and ask their own doctors if they feel something doesn’t make sense or may not be safe in their specific situation. I am not your child’s doctor, and this is not medical advice.
